At °®¶¹´«Ã½Èë¿Ú we want to highlight how school uniform is paramount in promoting a cohesive learning environment and cementing pride in the school community. We have designed a uniform that will be both comfortable and smart, to ensure that every child has a sense of belonging within the school.

The following outlines the uniform expectations for key stage 3 and 4, and sixth form.

Performing Art, PE and Level 1 students’ dress code

  • All drama, dance and sports and Level 1 students are expected to wear the branded clothing provided by the Sixth Form for practical days. Ìý
  • No hoodies/tops/ sportswear with significant branding or fashion topsÌý
  • Jewellery and make up must be discrete Ìý
  • No extreme haircuts and colour. Hair must be of a natural colourÌý
  • Nail varnish on both real and acrylic nails must be kept at a sensible lengthÌý

THE SIXTH FORM TEAM’S DECISION IS FINAL FOR CLOTHING, MAKE UP, HAIR AND JEWELLERY. STUDENTS WILL BE SENT HOME IF FOUND TO BE WEARING ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE. Ìý

Continuous failure to adhere to the uniform policy will result in the following

Form Tutors will:

  • Contact family.
  • Set student detentions.
  • Record the event on student profiles.
  • Removal from Academy trips and external visits.

Head of Year will:

  • Meet with family.
  • Set student detentions.
  • Record the sanction on student profiles.
  • Make referrals to Behaviour Management Services.

Behaviour Management Services will:

  • Remove students from lessons and isolate until the matter is resolved.

Academy Trips

  • Trips and visits are extremely rewarding for both students and staff.
  • For the safety of students, the specified uniform stated on the letter must be worn correctly.

Second-hand uniform

We currently accept donated blazers that are handed free of charge to students when requested.ÌýThrough the generosity of families and students we have a number of blazers, ties and PE kits in our Pre-Loved Store.ÌýFor more information call reception or ask your child to click the ‘uniform request’ link on their Year Hub page.

We will be putting the following processes in place moving forwards:Ìý

  • We will accept donations of branded items onlyÌý
  • We will have standard prices for each item
  • Families can request items by calling the AcademyÌýÌý
  • Items will be reserved and added to families’ ParentPay accounts so they can purchased
  • Any funds raised will be donated to Smethwick FoodbankÌý

Important to note:

  • Salwar Kameez, headscarves, Turbans and Patkas may be worn and should be plain blackÌý
  • Tights should be plain black and ankle length socks should be white, grey or blackÌý
  • Nail varnish on both real and acrylic nails must be of a neutral tone.Ìý
  • If make up is to be worn, it must be natural and discrete.Ìý
  • No other jewellery is permitted other than stud earrings and one nose stud. Students will be required to remove these for practical lessons.Ìý
  • If students wish to dye their hair, it must be of a natural colour.Ìý
  • Hair clips, bands and beads must be black, grey or white.Ìý

Banned items relating to uniform and dress code:

  • Hoodies, sports jackets, baseball jackets and denim jackets Ìý
  • Snoods, balaclavas, bandanas, hair scarves, baseball hats and bucket hatsÌý
  • Fur bootsÌý
  • Trainers and canvas pumpsÌý
  • All jewellery other than one nose stud and stud earrings (KS3-4)Ìý
  • PE trousers with strips or large logoÌý
  • Unbranded sportswear over PE kitÌý
  • Leggings and cycle shortsÌý
  • Extreme haircuts are not permitted – this includes bright, multicoloured hair and shaved tramlines. If students wish to dye their hair, it must be of a natural colourÌý
  • False eyelashes are not permitted and will result in staff asking students to remove themÌý
  • Bright colours and long nails are not acceptableÌý
  • Knee high socksÌý
